Rounded pouch!

Rounded, just like apples!

I bought this apple-printed hankerchief when was in Guangzhou last year. Well, I don't use hankies, but the fabric was too pretty to resist.

I finally took it out today and decided to make a different style of pouch. I wanted to try pleated at the front, but it didn't quite work out. So I tried this way instead. I'm gonna give the pleated one another try next day.

I still have 3 other different fabrics to use... but this apple print is the nicest. My cousin saw it and immediately ordered from me :)
Do you like it too?

What happens on Sundays

So this is me, on a Sunday, putting in some effort to making my Facebook Page look a little more decent than the big mess that it is now. My man made a small lightbox for me, which makes my photos look a tiny bit more professional.
Haha, I think this set up looks funny.
Anyway, I kinda have a big collection of fabrics AND they are all over my room... So this is gonna take a while. I have only just uploaded 11 new images to my Fabrics album and I gotta run to town to get some supplies for some orders!

All this time, Lipton accompanies me by sleeping on the most comfortable spot on my bed! It's a good thing that I've had a very well-rested night (12 hours, to be exact...) if not, just watching him would induce anyone to zzzzzzzzz...
It IS Sunday after all, and everyone is entitled to do whatever they like!

Inspirations

Idea #1
Cut felt into lovely shapes and hand sew onto pillows, pouches, totes, etc!
(source)

Idea #2
Sew strips of ribbons together to make pouches!

Idea #3
Try carving a rubber stamp to decorate my Thank You notes!

Well, this isn't an idea... but I'm head over heels in love with this Belle & Boo brand! Just how adorable are the characters? (i'm a bunny lover...) The fabrics are painfully expensive! :(

Origami Drawstring Pouch

Oh, it's been a looooooong while... but I'm back! I can't promise constant blogging though, but at least I'm still sewing :P

I've made this Origami Drawstring Pouch a long time ago for my sister, and she used it for her Fujifilm Polaroid camera and it fits snugly. So when my brother's friend needed something for hers, I decided to do this again.

I love the pockets on the outside. It's made from a huge piece of cloth, so after folding and sewing into that 7" pouch, it's actually rather thick - good enough for a camera, but of course, it's not meant for any real protection except from scratches. In fact, I always tell my customers that even though the laptop sleeves are padded (some even ask for double padding), that it's not enough to protect the laptop should you drop it.

I'm selling it at $28.

This is for my brother's friend. I really hope she likes it. She chose the exterior fabric herself.

This is an order from a repeat customer - Janna, an instagram friend and bunny lover. Hey, any animal-lover is my friend :) That said, no compliment is better than a repeat customer. I'm really lucky to have such support! Fabrics chosen by her as well. Turned out really well, yay!

My Boulangerie set

Finally! This post is long overdue, but I've finally found the time to get myself some craft glue and complete this project, and to post this up!
These yummy looking miniatures are made of air-dry clay - no baking needed! I think just this fact alone is really great because there's so much less hassle, and it feels really good to work with. (not that I have had any experience with polymer clay to compare with...)

Which is your favorite? Mine's the baguette. From the moment I started making it (which was the first among the six), I fell in love with it, even after the set is done.

The kiwi danish took more time and effort to make, plus the glossy part needed extra time to dry. So Pei Li packed them up for me and I glued them on after it was dry.

I thought the aging of the board was quite challenging because I wanted it to look natural. In my honest opinion, it's not as good as I wanted it to be. You should take a look at Pei Li's!

I love every part of this project.

I came across Pei Li's beautiful creations on Etsy. She's on Luulla too!

To thank her for the enjoyable workshop she conducted for me, I sent her a pouch :) (silly me, I didn't even take a nice photo of it before sending it out, and have to borrow it from her blog, hee hee)

Thanks for reading, and I hope I've inspired you in some way :)

First clay-making session!

I've just come back from my first session with Pei Li. I enjoyed myself very much, although my neck does ache a little now, haha :)
Today we painted the board, added some aged look to it. Shaped the clay using the mould. The mould was given to me. I didn't know it was provided, so it was a very pleasant surprise!
It may not sound like much, but just shaping the clay (even using the mould) took me 2 full hours!
She will be guiding me on painting techniques and applying them to the clay on my next session. I cannot wait!

Oh, did I also mention that she's very nice? Patient and very clear in her explanations. Thanks Pei Li!

This Raspberry Jelly is new to her collection, and I'm absolutely thrilled to have this as a gift!

Polymer Clay!

I can't wait for my miniature workshop with Pei Li this month! I will update here again after the session and see what I've done :)
In the meantime, I did a little bit of research about baking polymer clay. I'm a little paranoid when it comes to food-poisoning, so I'm really worried about baking clay in my kitchen oven which is meant for food.
Although polymer clay is safe for humans, it does give out some fumes when it's baking, and the smell would most likely stay in the oven and this will in turn then affect your food!
I don't think that's very wise, even if you don't bake clay often. So if I want to venture into this type of craft, I'll best get a little toaster oven meant just for crafts. Think Cash Converters for budget constraints, but check out Art Friend first!
If you're interested too, check out this website that I was reading today :)

If you do crafts too, please share with me!
