Old T to New Necklace

I have been seeing tutorials online on making use of old tee-shirts, turning them into something completely different, and I've been toying with this idea for the longest time. I was clearing my wardrobe and decided to rip apart 2 of my favorite tees from Zara to try.

1. Cut away collar and sleeve. "Open" up the tee.
2. Cut long stripes. Try it with 1" stripes, see if you like the thickness after you pull the material, so that it curls up.

This was a first time for me too, so it's really just an experiment. I cut up both tees, and ended up with quite abit of excess material.

3. Arrange the stripes in a way that you would like it to be worn. Necklace, bracelet, etc.
As you can see, I braided mine too.
I shall try again when I get hold of more tees... ;)

How was your weekend?

Tutorial: Felt Flower!

Hello friends!I've always enjoyed looking up tutorials put up by craft-bloggers, and so I've decided to give it a try too. Please forgive me if it's not done as well as the seasoned bloggers! Feel free to leave your comments on how I can improve, or if you have tried making this felt flower, share it with me!
All you need is...
  • Felt
  • A circle template (or use any small cup/anything with a round base) Mine measures 5cm diameter.
  • Needle & Thread (in similar colour as felt
  • Scissors
  • Pin brooch (if you are making the flower into a brooch)
  • Curious Pet Kitty (optional, but good to have)
1. Cut 7 circles of felt. I prefer doing this while watching TV - If you are like me, just watch for your fingers ;)
2. Fold a circle into quarters.
3. Sew it like in the picture onto a circle base.
4. Do the same for 4 circles.
5. Sew the 5th and 6th pieces on top.

6. Have the Curious Pet Kitty inspect your work.

7. If you want to make this into a brooch, you can sew the pin onto a small rectangle piece of felt, and then sew them onto the back of the flower. I use the rectangle piece of felt to cover up the stitches so the brooch looks good :)

If you prefer to have these ready-made, feel free to order them from me! Simply drop me an email (madewithlove.n@gmail.com) or visit my Facebook page for more pictures.

Have fun!

another enjoyable flea market!

I've just left *Scape, calling it a day for my booth at the flea market. although no one bought any of my handmade things, I've shamelessly promoted my Facebook page, so hopefully more people will know about my creations! Christmas is coming, and I'm panicking! there's just so much to do...
in the meanwhile, let me share some photos :)

Waiting... waiting...

While I'm waiting for work to begin at my brother's office, I'm surfing around for inspiration. A friend asked if I make wristlet pouches. I used to make a few! But right now, with a little bit more experience, I would like to try an improved version.

So anyway, I came across this lovely clutch by EmersonMade... I'm head over heels in love!

Aren't those the prettiest clutches you have ever seen? *swoons*

On the other hand, I think this cartoon-skull fabric (Madbird) is to-die-for:

Santa's coming to town!

I went shopping today and... fell in love with this fabric that I saw! It was more expensive than what I'm used to, but I couldn't resist at all.
I'm going to make a series of limited edition pouches with this. Should I get more?
Christmas is coming! Are you ready? ;)

17th Oct Flea @ Scape

My sister and I set up a booth yesterday at Scape for their Sunday Parade flea market. It was a success! We made a humble profit from selling some clothes, accessories... Most importantly, I sold a set of coasters and a pouch! Yay! It made me so very happy to see people interested in my works, and actually bought it without bargaining the price.

I can't wait for next week!

Cooking up something new!

I've been experimenting on the perfect size pouch for cosmetics! A friend recently placed a rather big order for a pouch that's bigger than what I have been doing, for her girlfriends tocarry their make-up around. I think it's great, because I could use one too :)

For everything that I make, I have this standard template to cut out the fabrics, so that every piece I make is as similar as possible. Some crafters use freezer paper, some use paper, some use cardboard pieces. I prefer using any card-like material I can get my hands on. Mailers, thin cardboard boxes, and in this case - cereal box. Reuse, friends!

I can't wait to share more photos when I'm done!

On another note, look at those gorgeous fabrics that I have :) I've always told myself that I have TOO MUCH fabrics. But honestly, you can NEVER have enough. They make me happy!

Oh I've just completed an order for 2 sets of the Stitched Heart coasters for an old friend - whom I haven't seen in forever, but soooo nice of her to show support to my work!

Let's get organized!

Hi Guys!
I just got back from Bangkok, and after a fitful sleep last night, I woke this morning, all ready and inspired to sew, BUT! My room was (and still is...) so very very messy! So I put on some music (Boyce Avenue, by the way!) and started organizing all my stuff.

Then when I was tidying up the rolls and rolls of ribbons - yet again for the hundredth time - I remembered coming across online, something really simple and cool method of organizing them, so I grabbed an empty box (I love keeping boxes. Reuse them, don't throw!) and started vandalizing it :-P

Isn't this so much neater and more fun too?
Okay back to tidying up my messy room!

Busy Bee taking a little break!

I've just finished 1 bulk order! Just to clarify, when I say bulk order, it is 5 items and above :)
As a little promotion to celebrate the official start of my web business, I'm giving away free coasters!!!
Check this out:
When you order 5 and above of the Zippered Pouch, you get 1 of these babies for FREE! I personally like this coaster very much :)

And this is the completed order! *Happy!*

Busy!!!

I'm really lucky to have friends who show so much support to my works so far. I've got 2 big orders, x'mas gifts. they're so nice to tell me to take my time! But of course, I want to finish them as soon as I can so that I can receive more orders (hopefully!)

So right now, my room is in this huge mess. It's like a huge ball of fabric just exploded and I have scraps everywhere!

It's pretty late, I should finally sleep! Sew on tomorrow!

Reuse your bread-clips!

I've seen this on a website long ago, and have been using this method ever since. It's so easy, so I thought I should share!

You know those little clips with dates stamped on them? Use them to tag your cables! Chargers, Lights, Sewing Machines, Computers, Printers, TV, DVD Player, Router, etc... See? Confused already? That's why you should do this!
It's free, easy and good for the environment too!
