Cath Kidston book

Hello!
How are your holidays so far?
I received a really cool book for Christmas this year - Cath Kidston "sew!" featuring over 40 projects.
Here, take a look.
Templates and patterns are provided! It's so easy to just start on any project :) There's even a needle set. (Honestly, I would have much much preferred Cath Kidston's fabrics instead of needles... I mean, have you seen the lovely floral prints?!)

One of the projects I would like to try out first :)

Ok! Back to doing what I love, sewing!

DIY Sugar Scrub

Just before I dive into telling you how I made some Homemade Sugar Scrub... I want to share this beautiful bow with you! It's actually really easy to make!
1. PVC ribbon gift bow (ready made from craft shops)
2. Matching ornaments
3. Hot glue gun
And use all of them together!
This is a GREAT Christmas gift idea - Homemade Sugar Scrub. It's easy to make, and you can personalize each jar whichever way you like, and most importantly for unemployed (not for long) people like me, cost-efficient!

  • I bought the glass jars from Daiso - quite a good selection of them!
  • Get sugar from supermarket - I got those normal fine grain white cane sugar. Caster would be too fine, so just use normal fine grain.
  • Olive oil - not just for cooking! Olive oil is used is hair and body products, so don't worry about using it for this. It has no smell too, so it's perfect for the project.
  • Essential oils - Got these from Daiso too! (seriously, they should pay ME for advertising) Lavender, Floral, Peppermint, etc.

Tools: Mixing bowl + Spoon + Love
  • Sugar - 3 cups
  • Olive Oil - 1 cup + 2 tbsp
  • Essential Oil - 10 drops (this is really up to your preference.)
Mix them up well!
TA DA!!! Easy or what?

Hot off the printer! *Excited*
My brother, Ian, designed it for me. He's into this colour right now - happily, I love it too! The colour is called Magic Mint :)
I love the font, I love the funny weird tree. I made that coaster some time back!

(and yes I can customize that coaster if you'd like!)

December is a busy month!

Hello!
How's your Christmas preparations coming along? Orders are coming in increasingly and I've been working as hard as I can.
But I've been sewing non-stop for the entire day, and when a friend sent me a link on making pretty felt flowers, I decided to give it a try! You know, take a break from all that pouch-making :)
and this is how mine looks! Honestly, it looks a little funny, but all my first trys turn out like that.
A huge supporter ordered some Makeup Pouches from me with nametags. I decided to stitch some of the names on the felt hearts instead of the normal canvas strip.
Remember my felt flowers? Did a chiffon silk version last night and I love it!

Fighting Fighting! (I haven't watched Korean dramas in a looooong while...)

Sewing is scary business

Know why? Because once you get a little too arrogant, needles break! And when needles break suddenly, it's very loud and scary. I jumped when I broke this one just a few minutes ago.
When I realized that the needle point was broken, I almost tore my entire machine apart to search for it, until I made a lucky guess that it may be stuck in the fabric... and I was right!
*phew*

My machine is fine :)
Sew On!

Leopard Cat

Hi Guys!

Just want to share with you about this beautiful animal I saw at the zoo last Sunday.
The Leopard Cat - Its size is just like your usual cat but its spots are just like the leopard's. It's a wild animal in Asia, but believed to be extinct in Singapore since 1968! However, they found a roadkill in 2001.

SO anyway... this is quite a random post, but I just can't forget how beautiful that lone Leopard Cat was in the zoo. When you do visit the zoo, do drop by to take a look :)

Beautiful Sunset

Hi guys!

I'm really excited about this Saturday's very first lucky draw and to give away a Christmas-edition Makeup Pouch and a pair of matching coasters :)

Meanwhile, I'd like to share with you one of the most beautiful sunsets that I had ever seen. A few days ago, my family and I went to Punggol Waterfront, just to check the place out, and were rewarded with this beautiful sight.

Name Embroidery

Hi guys,
I'm currently working on a bulk order of pouches with personalized tags on them.
Name embroidery -- this is my first try:

For a first-timer, I guess it's okay. I need more practice though. The key to embroidery is
patience!

On another hand... this pouch shows just how Christmassy I am beginning to feel :)

Feeling a little under the weather... and it's a Friday :( It's so uncool to fall sick on a Friday!

Old T to New Necklace

I have been seeing tutorials online on making use of old tee-shirts, turning them into something completely different, and I've been toying with this idea for the longest time. I was clearing my wardrobe and decided to rip apart 2 of my favorite tees from Zara to try.

1. Cut away collar and sleeve. "Open" up the tee.
2. Cut long stripes. Try it with 1" stripes, see if you like the thickness after you pull the material, so that it curls up.

This was a first time for me too, so it's really just an experiment. I cut up both tees, and ended up with quite abit of excess material.

3. Arrange the stripes in a way that you would like it to be worn. Necklace, bracelet, etc.
As you can see, I braided mine too.
I shall try again when I get hold of more tees... ;)

How was your weekend?

Tutorial: Felt Flower!

Hello friends!I've always enjoyed looking up tutorials put up by craft-bloggers, and so I've decided to give it a try too. Please forgive me if it's not done as well as the seasoned bloggers! Feel free to leave your comments on how I can improve, or if you have tried making this felt flower, share it with me!
All you need is...
  • Felt
  • A circle template (or use any small cup/anything with a round base) Mine measures 5cm diameter.
  • Needle & Thread (in similar colour as felt
  • Scissors
  • Pin brooch (if you are making the flower into a brooch)
  • Curious Pet Kitty (optional, but good to have)
1. Cut 7 circles of felt. I prefer doing this while watching TV - If you are like me, just watch for your fingers ;)
2. Fold a circle into quarters.
3. Sew it like in the picture onto a circle base.
4. Do the same for 4 circles.
5. Sew the 5th and 6th pieces on top.

6. Have the Curious Pet Kitty inspect your work.

7. If you want to make this into a brooch, you can sew the pin onto a small rectangle piece of felt, and then sew them onto the back of the flower. I use the rectangle piece of felt to cover up the stitches so the brooch looks good :)

If you prefer to have these ready-made, feel free to order them from me! Simply drop me an email (madewithlove.n@gmail.com) or visit my Facebook page for more pictures.

Have fun!

Waiting... waiting...

While I'm waiting for work to begin at my brother's office, I'm surfing around for inspiration. A friend asked if I make wristlet pouches. I used to make a few! But right now, with a little bit more experience, I would like to try an improved version.

So anyway, I came across this lovely clutch by EmersonMade... I'm head over heels in love!

Aren't those the prettiest clutches you have ever seen? *swoons*

On the other hand, I think this cartoon-skull fabric (Madbird) is to-die-for:
